Dr Ian James
Dr Ian James is an air quality specialist with extensive knowledge of modelling, monitoring and associated issues. Dr James also has fairly extensive experience of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), having managed more than 40 studies for major international oil, gas and power developments in the Middle East, and Europe, Africa and the Caspian. He has recently assisted firms implement ISO 14001 compliant EMS at sites in five countries across 18 sites. Ian has worked on permitting projects in the Middle East for over seven years, including Qatar, UAE, Oman, Jordan and Saudi Arabia, focusing on all aspects of oil & gas production / refining, and petrochemicals.
Ian has over 14 years air quality experience and holds a PhD in atmospheric chemistry and a BSc. (Hons) in Applied Chemistry.
Elizabeth van Zyl
Elizabeth is a highly experienced consultant with a strong track record in providing environmental and social expert advice in the transport, natural resources, energy and industrial sectors. She has worked extensively in the UK, Central, Eastern and Southern Europe and Africa undertaking environmental and social impact assessment, monitoring and due-diligence for private clients and International Financial Institutions.
Elizabeth has extensive working knowledge of the environmental and social guidelines, standards and requirements of international lending institutions, such as the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the European Bank for Reconstruction & Development (EBRD). She has a proven track record in preparing environmental and social documentation to international standards to meet lending and best practice requirements, including Environmental & Social Impact Assessments, Environmental & Social Action Plans, Non-Technical Summaries and Stakeholder Engagement Plans.
Elizabeth has over 15 years’ experience in this field and has an MEng in Civil Engineering with Management from the University of Birmingham.
Angela Reeman
Angela is a Social and Sustainable Development Specialist who has over 10 years experience working on large projects in a number of countries, with a particular focus on heavy industry and the natural resource sector. Angela specialises in helping organisations to understand and manage the societal impacts of their activities, mostly through stakeholder dialogue and sustainable community development. She is a leading international expert in the preparation and implementation of stakeholder engagement, public awareness, consultation, and disclosure programs. She also specialises in social impact assessment, resettlement and community development. She has a proven track record in preparing relevant social documentation to international standards to meet lending and best practice requirements. She has worked with and on behalf of a number of international lenders for major projects, including the World Bank Group.
Angela has a Masters Degree in Social Science from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and a BEng in Environmental Engineering from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and Napier University, Edinburgh.
Dr John Knight
John is an experienced senior consultant on multi-disciplinary projects predominantly in the extractive industries, with familiarity of working to standards of major international and financial institutions (World Bank, IFC, EBRD, Equator Principles). He has wide experience of the assessment and management of environmental liabilities for the extractive industries in Europe, Eastern Europe and Former Soviet Union. He is experienced in producing specialised focused reports and has extensive experience of reporting to financial institutions on mining industry developments and proposals. These reports have covered due diligence, valuation, reserves assessment and Competent Person's reporting for IPO for leading stock exchanges. John has extensive experience of the practical implementation of environmental and social management plans on mine operations.
John has over 25 years professional experience and holds a PhD and BSc in Geology from Sheffield University.
Margaret Casey
Margaret is a well qualified and experienced environmental professional who has worked predominantly in the private sector on environmental audit, contaminated land and waste management projects. Her project experience has included site investigation design and execution, environmental liability assessment, preliminary remediation design, environmental auditing and waste planning studies. Her valuable technical experience in various industries has also meant she has developed excellent project management skills.
Margaret has an MSc in Land Resource Management from Cranfield University and a BSc in Geography from Kings College, London.
Michael Wenborn
Michael Wenborn has over 15 years professional experience in international strategic consulting, covering a wide range of environmental and social development projects. His extensive project experience has covered project planning and evaluation, community planning and development, environmental strategy, environmental and social impact assessment, institutional strengthening, business strategies, management consulting and training initiatives. He therefore has a wide knowledge of environmental, social and business aspects, and is particularly strong in project management and evaluation. Michael is highly familiar with the objectives of major donors and IFIs, and has managed international projects for many of these.
Michael has an MSc in Environmental Engineering from Imperial College London, a BEng in Engineering Science (Civil) from Exeter University, and a Diploma in Management from the University of Reading.
Robert Coyle
Robert Coyle is an international environment and social expert with more than 30 years of experience in environmental and social assessment, occupational health & safety and risk management. He has worked extensively in all 26 countries of Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union (FSU), Mongolia, Central and South America, Africa, China and India.
During a 15 year career as Senior Environmental Adviser with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) he successfully undertook appraisal and supervision of environment, health and safety and social due diligence on some of the largest and most complex projects in the, mining, general industry, transport and infrastructure sectors to ensure compliance with local, EU, international and EBRD environmental & social requirements. Prior to joining EBRD, Robert was a Senior Consultant at the international environmental consulting firm ERM, responsible for managing the environmental appraisal and assessment on a wide range of projects in India, China, the Middle East, South America and Africa.
Robert holds a MSc. in Occupational Health and Safety and a BA in Sociology. In his earlier career he trained and worked as a civil engineer on major civil and construction works in the UK.
Dr Stuart Gregory
Stuart has over 20 years’ experience as international sustainability consultant working in a wide range of sectors including: chemical, agriculture, food, microelectronics, automotive, general manufacturing, oil and gas, marine, mining, construction and retail. He has extensive experience in the development and certification of Health & Safety and Environmental Management systems to the OHSAS18001 and IS014001 standards, both as a consultant, and as a lead auditor for one of the world’s largest certification companies. Stuart has developed and delivered a wide range of training modules in both these areas and has trained over 1000 system managers and lead auditors.
Stuart is also a social auditor and consultant specializing mainly in agriculture and food production supply chains and has advised on minimizing social and environmental impacts in a range of natural raw materials including mint, vanilla, and Jasmine.In addition to consultancy, training and auditing, Stuart has been an expert witness in public Inquiry, presented evidence in parliament, and regularly presents to Top Management teams. Stuart also works on the communication of sustainability messages through sustainability reports, video and presentations.
Stuart has PhD in Behavioural Ecology from Durham University
Clare Wyllys
Clare is an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment specialist, with experience in implementing environmental, sustainability and socio-economic programs and projects in the UK, Europe, Middle East and Africa for both the public and the private sectors. Clare’s work involves all aspects of ESIA as well as stakeholder consultation, developing environmental management plans, environmental compliance auditing and economic feasibility studies and she has worked on a range of projects spanning the mining, power, transportation, utilities and waste sectors.
Clare has a MSc in Environmental Technology from Imperial College London and a BSc in Environmental Geography from University College London
